Let’s draw the line
The State Government wants to allow supermarkets to sell wine. They say it will help the local wine industry.
We support SA wines but this proposal will open the floodgates for Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and the big grocery groups to put alcohol in their aisles, as well as in all the bottleshops they already own.
And history says they’re not going to be looking after the small, independent local wineries. They will simply fill the shelves with brands they own.
Plus, they will be selling liquor next door to real, independent family owned bottle shops and hotels, who already stock SA wines.
Guess who will have to close or lay off staff?
Let’s draw the line.

New SA Work Health and Safety Legislation
The new South Australian Work Health and Safety legislation commenced from 1 January 2013. All members were sent an information booklet titled 'New Work Health and Safety Legislation - What You Need to Know' in Issue No.57 of the HR/IR Newsletter which was mailed on 21 January 2013. This booklet outlines the key differences between this new legislation and the previous legislation.

Workforce Futures
The Workforce Futures Program is a Federal Government initiative which has been allocated $11.8 million to assist with workforce development of small and medium sized businesses within the tourism and hospitality sector. The aim being to improve the capacity and capability of the workforce of such businesses through the creation of a workforce development plan.The AHA|SA has trained Skills Advisors that can assist with developing a plan to improve your workforce performance. Nominations are now open for the 2013 Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence.
NOMINATIONS ARE DUE FRIDAY 17 MAY 2013.
Winners of the Awards for Excellence will be announced at the annual Gala Dinner being held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Tuesday 23 July 2013.
Hotel Care Community Projects funds Audiology Clinic at Cora Barclay
Hotel Care Community Projects & The Crows Foundation have co-funded the purchase of specialised new equipment for Cora Barclay to make possible assessments of babies and very young children as well as older children and adults.
The services at Cora Barclay, which is based in North Adelaide, are an important addition to what’s already available in SA; it gives families more choice.
Early diagnosis of deafness is vital for newborns; appropriate and consistent early intervention and auditory stimulation before six months of age is the key to speech and language development.
