The Fair Work Ombudsman has published in the Government Gazette Notices an updated Fair Work Information Statement (‘FWIS’) effective from 3 December 2019.
The FWIS must be given to an employee before, or as soon as practicable after an employee starts their employment with an employer. This is a requirement under Section 125 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).
The updated FWIS has been designed in such a way that it is more user friendly. It also contains a table which outlines the minimum entitlements under the National Employment Standards and their applicability to full-time, part-time and casual employees.
The updated FWIS also reflects the recent changes to paid personal/carer’s leave as a result of the Mondelez decision and makes note that applications have been made to the High Court to appeal the Mondelez decision.
